ECO4 Overview

Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The UK ECO4 scheme, also known as the Energy Company Obligation is a government-funded initiative designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes in the UK. It is the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which aims to reduce household carbon emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and provide energy efficiency measures to homes.

It differs slightly from previous schemes as it has a 'whole house' approach, which means a domestic property is surveyed with the aim of installing all required energy saving measures identified via the ECO4 fund.

Under the ECO4 scheme, HouseWrapped are able to attract grants for eligible homes. Homeowners and people living in the rental market can receive discounted or free home insulation, an upgraded boiler, or a green domestic heating system such as Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pumps. The scheme is worth £4 billion and aims to make UK homes more energy-efficient and reduce energy and heating costs

Renewable Energy - Solar PV & ASHPs

Solar PV

Solar PV systems harness sunlight and convert it into electricity, providing a clean and renewable energy source for homes. By generating electricity from solar energy, homeowners can reduce their reliance on grid electricity and lower their electricity bills.

Solar PV systems produce clean energy, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps combat climate change. Solar panels also have a long lifespan, typically lasting 25 years or more, providing a consistent source of renewable energy.

Financial incentives are also available in the UK with various energy suppliers such as the Smart Export Guarantee used by Octopus Energy and E On. There are also government incentives for installing solar PV systems, helping to offset the initial installation costs.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Energy Efficiency: ASHPs are highly energy-efficient heating systems that can significantly reduce your energy consumption and lower your heating bills. By extracting heat from the outside air, they can produce more heat energy than the electrical energy they consume, resulting in higher efficiency.

Environmental Friendly: ASHPs do not rely on burning fossil fuels, thereby reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a cleaner environment.

Versatility: ASHPs can provide both heating and cooling functions, making them a versatile choice for homeowners. They can be used for space heating during the colder months and as air conditioning units during the warmer months, offering year-round comfort

Reliable and Long-lasting: ASHPs have a long operational life and require minimal maintenance, providing reliable heating and cooling for an extended period.
